In Peru, the school year runs from March until December. Although school enrollment is mandatory in Peru, attending school can be a challenge for children from the poorest families. They often live far away from the nearest school (without any means of transportation to get there), they need to take care of their siblings or their parents cannot afford to pay the costs associated with going to school.
This year, we have provided backpacks and school materials to over 150 children, including children in the Andes (the communities of Ocra, Anansaya, and Sunchumarca) as well as children living in the Peruvian jungle (San Antonio de Cumbaza). In addition, we have equipped 2 schools with a Starlink installation, giving them access to the internet, and have bought TVs for 2 schools and books and a mini-library for another one.
We are preparing a few more education-related projects for 2024, allowing more and more children to play, learn, and develop themselves. Education will always be at the top of our priority list!
